Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, to pack their belongings and leave office because they have failed the country.

In a statement to the press, the CORD leader accused Uhuru/ Ruto of failing in the war against terror.

The former PM said insecurity has magnified under Uhuru/ Ruto’s Presidency and that the statistics were shocking.

Raila said Al Shabaab terrorists have grown in strength and effectiveness thanks to Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government which has provided them with a favorable environment, citing the recent attack on a KDF camp in Lamu as an indicator of the changing face of the militants.

“Since 2010, terror attacks in Kenya have gathered momentum leading to the death and maiming of hundreds of citizens and security officers. The biggest spike was in 2012 with 90 dying in 75 attacks. In 2013, 43 attacks killed 157 and last year 62 attacks killed 290. The numbers continue to mount this year,” said Raila.

The CORD leader challenged the President and his Deputy to wake up from their slumber and smell the coffee saying Kenyans, including himself, believe in Al Shabaab than them because they are full of lies when it comes to the war on terror.

“In June last year, Al Shabaab attacked Lamu’s Mpeketoni Township murdering almost 50 Kenyans. President Kenyatta immediately pronounced this as the work of the opposition in a blatantly baseless claim. This has served to create the bizarre situation where the population believes Al Shabaab’s statements over those of their own Head of State where security is concerned. Worse still, his officials had ignored actionable intelligence preceding the attack that had been shared with them by our own agencies and foreign friends as well,” he said.
