Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, has maintained that he will never accept the sh. 38 billion medical equipment being forced on Counties by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.

Speaking yesterday, Ruto noted that the equipment was leased fraudulently without following due process and that the President and his Deputy want to benefit from the lease at the expense of poor Kenyans.

Besides, the lease is expensive because it would be cheaper to buy the equipment than to hire them for sh38 billion annually.

At the same time, the outspoken Bomet Governor revealed why Uhuru/ Ruto are desperately forcing the equipment on Counties without having consulted Governors, who are going to manage them, saying the move is to cut funding to Counties.

“We know their plan is to deny counties more funds in the pretext they have supplied these equipment thus holding back growth of the Counties economically,” said Ruto.

Ruto further added that the process to lease the equipment was flawed from the onset because Governors invited Health CS, James Macharia, to shed more light on the issue but he refused to show up, leaving a lot to be desired.

“We called him more than three times but he did not turn up let alone sending an apology and it is ironical that the State wants to force us to accept the equipment blindly without questioning anything,” he said.
