Nairobi businessman, Herbert Ojwang, on Thursday dismissed claims by Deputy President, William Ruto, that him and his Chinese business associates were planning to build a Sh 2 billion car park at The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

Addressing a Press Conference at his office in Nairobi, Ojwang said Ruto’s claims that they were building the Sh 2 billion car park were false and produced documents showing that they were building a car park worth Sh 287 million only.

Ojwang also said Ruto only suspended the project out of frustration when he refused to surrender the Agents’ Agreement.

“I wish to put the record straight that the DP was in the picture in the project from day one until this year when he realized I could not give up the Agents Agreement,” Herbert Ojwang said.
In the agreement entered with a consortium of Chinese companies allegedly led by China Wu Yi, Ojwang was entitled to a five percent commission of the Sh 17 billion tender - about Sh 850 million.
