Embattled Budalangi MP and ODM Secretary General, Ababu Namwamba, has continued to receive support from across the country, especially Western region, following an attempt to impeach him as the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) last week over bribery and corruption allegations.

Speaking yesterday, Luhya leaders led by Vihiga County Assembly member, Ben Ombima, read foul play in the plot to impeach Namwamba saying ODM and Luo MPs are his worst enemies who want him ousted by all means.

He wondered why ODM chairman, John Mbadi, decided to vote with Jubilee to have Namwamba ejected from office saying ODM was acting suspiciously and warned that the move could be detrimental to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, ODM and CORD.

“MPs in PAC who are members of Ford Kenya and Wiper stood with Ababu, while ODM did not. This shows clearly what they were plotting,” said Mr. Ombima.

Ombima hinted that Luhyas may very soon abandon Raila and could walk out of ODM because Luos have never liked Namwamba or any Luhya to be at the helm of ODM, let alone being in charge of a powerful committee like PAC.

“We are watching keenly to see how our brothers in ODM are treating us before we take our next move,” said Ombima who admitted that other outside forces are also involved.
