Stakes in the hotly contested Kajiado Central parliamentary by-election could go higher after today as President Uhuru Kenyatta leads the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) campaigns himself to drum up support for Patrick Tutui.

Uhuru’s visit to Kajiado today follows one by his Deputy, William Ruto, who has toured the Constituency twice to campaign for Tutui, a move that has given former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s CORD sleepless nights as Jubilee seems hell-bent on snatching away the seat that once belonged to ODM.

The President’s visit to Kajiado also comes at a time when CORD leader, Raila Odinga, is away in Lesotho leading the African Union Election Observers’ Mission to monitor the first ever democratic election after last year’s attempted coup by the army in the South African State.

According to political analysts, the presence of Uhuru in Kajiado’s campaigns gives Jubilee an edge over CORD. Similarly, the absence of the former PM could just cost CORD the seat.

Like Deputy President William Ruto, Raila Odinga has visited Kajiado twice to campaign for CORD candidate, Memusi Konchari, before he left for Brussels and Lesotho.

His Co-Principal, Kalonzo Musyoka, is expected to lead CORD team to Kajiado tomorrow just a day after Uhuru’s visit.

The seat fell vacant after Uhuru/ Ruto defied all odds and appointed Joseph Nkaisery (ODM) to the Cabinet as the Interior Cabinet Secretary.
