The race for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat has taken another twist after a pronouncement by Nairobi Women Representative, Rachael Shebesh.

Manzi wa Nairobi has thrown her weight behind Water Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, whose candidature has threatened to split Jubilee right in the middle.

Shebesh vowed to support Wamalwa, who has been accused of being Deputy President William Ruto’s project against Mt. Kenya instead of her former friend, Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

This comes despite Sonko having played a pivotal role in the election of Shebesh as Nairobi Women Representative in 2013.

In her endorsement, Shebesh termed Wamalwa as the right guy to unseat Governor Evans Kidero and that she will do whatever it takes to ensure he is nominated by Jubilee and elected the next Governor.

She noted that Wamalwa has performed exceptionally well as Water CS and deserves to be the next Governor of Nairobi.

Shebesh’s endorsement of Wamalwa comes even as Mt. Kenya has vowed to give him a red card saying they will not allow any outsider to be the Governor for Nairobi.

It now remains to be seen if Shebesh’s support will bring some few votes to Wamalwa’s basket.
