Deputy President William Ruto is without a doubt one of the most vocal, smart and crafty politicians this country has ever had, and one that is hard to pin down because he will convert his misfortunes to his advantage.

Just when former Prime Minister Raila Odinga thought he has had Ruto, who is his sworn political enemy, grounded with corruption scandals ranging from land grabbing, Weston Hotel and now the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) scams, the Deputy President has turned the scandals around to his advantage and beaten Raila in his own game.

Ruto has sponsored Raila Odinga’s team, Gor Mahia, with the so called ‘looted money’, as the former PM has always insisted, just after he launched the Gor bread and Sacco.

Ruto gave Gor players and the technical bench air tickets to Kisumu for the Saturday match against Tusker FC due to its string of good performances, a sponsorship that was received with open arms by Kogalo to the disappointment and shock of the CORD supporters.

In appreciation, Gor Mahia Chairman, Ambrose Rachier, thanked the DP for the good gesture and promised that his boys will never forget him for saving them the long, rough and tedious trip to Kisumu.

In fact, Gor will dedicate Saturday’s win against Tusker FC to William Ruto, something that may drive Raila ‘to jump from the roof top’ since Gor has never done that for him.

“We are really grateful for what the Deputy President has done to our team. The trip to Kisumu by road at times can be tiresome but our players will be in good shape after avoiding the long journey,” said Rachier.
