Kenyan Blogger Charged with Hate Speech after an anti Uhuru Post
A local blogger has pleaded guilty to charges of hate speech and undermining government authorities on facebook.
Alan Wadi Okengo has blamed his mental condition for the act, he told the court that he is surfering from a serious mental condition and he wasn't in his right sense when he posted it.
Okengo has been sentenced to a year in jail or a fine not exceeding Shs 200,000 for the hate speech only while the second charge will see him spend another year in jail. he has about 14 days to appeal.
This becomes the second person to be charged in court for hate speech and undermining the authorities.
Dedan Marenya was the first person to be accused of undermining the authorities and faced almost similar charges.
