Controversial Nairobi businessman and Fidel Odinga’s self-confessed killer, Paul Kobia, has denied ever confessing to anything to that effect.

Talking from his hospital bed in Nairobi on his alleged involvement in Fidel’s death, Kobia denied ever uttering words to the effect that he had a hand in the untimely demise of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s son, Fidel, as was reported by the media.

He also said that the late Fidel was his close friend and that he holds the former PM in high esteem to the extent that he cannot plot anything evil against his family.

"There are claims out there that I confessed to having killed Fidel Odinga; that is false and malicious," said Kobia.

"The late Fidel (may he rest in peace) was my personal friend while I have a strong admiration for his father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. There is no way I could have plotted to harm him or injure his family," he added.

In the same breath, Kobia also denied allegations that he was arrested by police at Village Market and taken to a mental hospital for being mad and wild, saying his family brought him to hospital on their own volition.

Paul Kobia was accused of confessing to have killed Fidel Odinga for allegedly hiring goons to beat him up at a city restaurant where Raila Odinga was having lunch last year.
